A big thank you to our show sponsors

Burns Dog Food - Sponsors

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the committee members and exhibitors for such a truly lovely day.

Our involvement with the Japanese Chin in the UK spans four decades, during which time the breed has played an integral role in our program. It was both interesting and rewarding to observe the direction the breed has taken in the capable hands of the next generation of breeders.I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did.

It is our most sincere hope that the KC protects the breed standard from animal rights activists. The breeders are, and have been, producing healthy dogs for many years and should be supported.

Areas for improvement include length of body, rounder heads, with larger, darker eyes.

Best wishes to all!”

DOG CLASSES

Class 3 – Veteran Dog (3 entries)
1st – #24 Sangria De Ja Vous (DOB 08/19/17)
A handsome boy from one of the foundation breeders of the breed today. He presented with clean, clear, and correct markings, along with a proper silky coat that has truly withstood the test of time. His open face and most desirable expression were especially pleasing. He carried himself with quiet confidence, clearly enjoying his role in showing the younger dogs how it’s done, and remained highly competitive throughout the day.
2nd – #50 Holmchin Secret Affair with Rakuchin (DOB 11/11/13)
A most impressive dog who will be 13 years old in November. His soundness of body and excellent movement are a true credit to his breeders and owners, who should be justifiably proud. For anyone who questions the soundness and health of our breed, one need only watch this grand dog command the ground he walks on.

Class 4 – Minor Puppy Dog (6 entries)
A very competitive class.
1st – #70 Jaschin Headliner
Very aptly named, this youngster possessed the most lovely dark, round, large eyes which completed a beautiful expression. Fine in bone, with proper balance and a vibrant demeanour. A truly lovely young dog whom I look forward to watching mature.
2nd – #71 Jaschin Hot Off The Press
A littermate to the winner, this boy displayed a most striking shape and strong rear drive. An attractive face with pleasing markings. Congratulations to the breeders/owners for producing such consistent quality. I suspect these two will trade wins in the future.

Class 5 – Puppy Dog (3 entries)
1st – #16 Someronz Pawfection
This little chap was initially a bit unsure of the situation but rallied well to take his class. His color and markings, along with a good broad head, make him a very promising puppy.
2nd – #38 Anjul Almost Hemingway at Gorvina
The most eye-catching, bright red sable coat combined with excellent markings makes him a very handsome dog. Ideally, I would prefer a little less length of loin.

Class 6 – Junior Dog (6 entries)
A good class of young dogs, with the easy winner being #6.
1st – #6 Bellflows Ichikawa, Jun Ch. Lux
His rounded ribs and shortness of loin created a most desirable compact outline. The hallmark large, round, dark eyes were very much among his many virtues.
2nd – #20 Cranvari’s Back In Black
This lad possessed the most lovely silky coat in beautiful condition. In profile, his length, carriage, and tail set combined to present a very elegant picture.

Class 7 – Yearling Dog (3 entries)
1st – #6 Bellflows Ichikawa Jun Ch. Lux
Again, his overall compactness of body produced a most desirable shape. His beautiful large, round, dark eyes made this an easy decision.
2nd – #81 Kassui Mayhem
A richly colored sable dog, exhibiting a luxurious coat. The owners are to be commended for the careful presentation of his furnishings, with overall condition most impressive.

Class 8 – Novice Dog (2 entries)
1st – Sharlana Eclipse
Although young, this dog was presented in the most lovely coat condition, with proper texture and good color. He showed attractive depth of body, along with pleasing length, carriage, and tail set.
2nd – Bensu Avenue of Roses Arafel
A most eye-catching dark red and white. Ideally, I would have preferred a shorter loin to create a more compact overall appearance.

Class 9 – Graduate Dog (2 entries)
1st – Corrinwood Peter Piper
A black and white dog very much of the correct Chin type – truly a complete package. Compact and all of one piece, with solid front and rear, and perfect size and balance of bone. His large, dark, round, well-placed eyes gave him the correct expression and head qualities. He was one of the few exhibits to have correct nose placement within the face. Unfortunately, not in coat today to complete the picture for higher awards.
2nd – Bensu Avenue of Roses Arafel
A beautiful dark red and white, a color combination that is always so desirable.

Class 10 – Post Graduate Dog (4 entries, 1 absent)
1st – #74 Bentwood Wagamappa Aiko
One could watch this dog move all day – he displayed a perfect fall of foot. Combined with his lovely color, he made a truly winning picture.
2nd – #78 Javalcy Socereus Apprentice
The headpiece on this dog was among the best on the day – beautifully rounded with expressive eyes that are particularly memorable. If he were to show himself to greater advantage, the ribbons would surely come his way.

Class 11 – Limit Dog (3 entries, 1 absent)
1st – #54 Ereste’s Raffles Exclusive
A nice large head giving a handsome, masculine appearance. Presented in beautiful condition, with a correct silky coat of proper texture.
2nd – #1 Bentwood Wagamappa Scuni at Aldaricka
A good, honest mover whose action clearly showcased his shortness of body.

Class 12 – Open Red & White Dog (2 entries)
1st – #80 Cranvarl The Red King of Jakeonas
Beautiful color on this handsome Red & White dog. Shown in a lovely coat in pristine condition, he made a winning picture.
2nd – #5 Bellflows Mitsu
Compact sable dog of a desirable smaller size.

Class 13 – Open Dog (3 entries, 1 absent)
1st – #23 Salvador Dali by Sangria
This boy made a striking picture, with most desirable coat, color, and markings. Large, round, dark eyes completed an especially attractive expression.
2nd – #61 Ch. Shankaranna Swindler
Movement and a perfect fall of foot could make this dog a winner on most days. He displays carriage that comes from correct structure. In a perfect world, I would prefer a darker eye.

Class 14 – Champion Dog (5 entries)
1st – #77 Ch. Javalcy The Great Mikado, JW
At a stunning eight years of age, this dog exemplifies quality that has truly withstood the test of time. Compact in shape, with perfect markings, correct coat texture, and those magical black pearls for eyes. He is a celebration of beautiful type and sound structure for the breed.
2nd – #68 Jaschin Paw Star
A very deserving winning champion. Presented in beautiful coat and condition, with luxurious furnishings. He owns the ground he stands on and speaks well to the overall soundness of the breed.

Dog CC.
#6 Bellflows Ichikawa Jun
When all was said and done, the promise of the future and the undeniable quality of this young dog earned him the crown for the day. His exceptional breed type – head, eyes, and expression – combined with a steady, sound fall of foot, was simply not to be rivaled.
Reserve Dog CC.
#77 Ch. Javalcy The Great Mikado
Nothing but respect for this handsome, classically correct dog. He holds his title at a senior age, which is exactly what all breeders strive for. Truly a treasure – congratulations to breeder/owner J. Thomas.

BITCH CLASSES

Class 16 – Veteran Bitch (4 entries)
1st – #59 CH. Harlouville Uptown Girl, JW
Winning one of the strongest classes of the day, this girl was the complete package. A lovely head, beautiful balance, and presented in a pristine, glorious coat, she was not to be denied.
2nd – #3 Bellflows Lunar Eclipse
The perfect Oriental princess, this girl possessed everything one could ask for in type and size. Slightly out of coat did not diminish her glamour, and her soundness was outstanding.

Class 17 – Minor Puppy Bitch (5 entries)
1st – #53 Somergemz Sheila Blige Rakuchin
Very refined and feminine in type, with huge, round, dark eyes and an ample silky coat. A very elegant young bitch.
2nd – #48 Cholas Princess Nia At Mairamel
Very much admired for her honesty, with ample body and depth. Well made on both ends and moved with purpose. The type of bitch that contributes to a successful breeding program.

Class 18 – Puppy Bitch (1 entry)
1st – #31 Ashaka Between the Sheets
A very quality sable with color and markings to spare. She was confident on the move, covering the ground soundly both coming and going.

Class 19 – Junior Bitch (4 entries)
1st – #19 Cranvari’s Back to Black
Another solid-bodied, well-made girl that a breeder would cherish. A beautiful headpiece with expression and eyes that secured her the win.
2nd – #37 Anjuli Bunny
A very attractive girl in lovely coat and condition. Her silky coat and strong movement make her a serious contender. I would prefer to see her nose placement set a little more ‘inside’ the face.

Class 20 – Yearling Bitch (1 entry)
1st – #82 Kassui Havoc
A pretty sable girl with refinement, a sweet expression, and a pleasing overall outline. Ideally, I would prefer slightly more shortness of loin, but overall a quality exhibit.

Class 22 – Graduate Bitch (3 entries, 1 absent)
1st – #10 Sharlana Faking It
An overall balanced girl with an ample, correct texture coat. Well marked and quite stylish on the move.
2nd – #112 Adreeam Athena
What a pretty face. With a little practice and experience, she should grow to enjoy her outings more. As Chin breeders know, this does not always come naturally.

Class 23 – Post Graduate Bitch (6 entries, 1 absent)
1st – #14 Somergemz Oh My Ophelia
Strong competition in this class, and “Ophelia” held her own. Beautiful depth of body with well-rounded ribs, fine bone, and lovely ‘paintbrush’ feet. One of the best heads on the day, with lovely eyes and broad cushioning. A fine quality girl in any company.
2nd – #30 Sharlana’s Nipantuck
Refined in type and very flashy on the move, presenting an overall lovely package. Could be fuller in rib, but without question a true showgirl.

Class 24 – Limit Bitch (8 entries)
1st – #8 Sharlana’s All Eyes On Me, JW
The overall balance on this girl was rock steady; she never placed a foot wrong. Confident on the go, she was no disappointment on the table – very square with a lovely expression.
2nd – #36 Somergemz I Own Her At Anjuli
Beautiful refined black and white girl with exceptional carriage. Solid competition in any class.

Class 25 – Open Red & White Bitch (5 entries, 2 absent)
1st – #35 Jaschin Who’d Have Thought At Anjuli
Lovely red sable girl in beautiful coat and condition. The refinement and feminine quality was very eye catching on this girl.
2nd – #32 Sharlana Conchita for Meglind
Very attractive head type, beautiful eyes and expression. Well marked red sable but not in the most coat at the moment.

Class 26 – Open Bitch (3 entries, 1 absent)
1st – #7 Sharlanna’s Vivacious
Very well made girl with a solid compact body. Desirable rounded ribcage giving overall correct shape. Could have a darker eye color.
2nd – #28 Capevidles Simply
Quality girl that has a very good shape in profile. Well marked with a correct texture coat in good condition. Headpiece could be of a larger size.

Class 27 – Champion Bitch (2 entries)
1st – #64 Ch. Jaschin First Edition
Stylish girl that has the most lovely face – large eyes – feminine expression. Full rounded ribcage gives her balance in movement or standing. A bit out of coat on the day.
2nd – #60 Ch. Sharlanna Eye Candy, JW
Beautifully balanced girl – moving and standing keeping desirable outline. All round well made, some slight ticking coming in, but well marked.

The overall depth of quality was considerably stronger in the bitches, so this was the hardest decision of the day.
Bitch CC & BIS
#8 Sharlanna’s All Eyes On Me, JW
This girl was on her game and when it was time she showed like the champion she is. Standing square on four good legs, her shape and overall balance were the winning ticket. Congratulations to breeders and owners.
Reserve Bitch CC & RBIS
